I wonder so very often, as I gaze into uncertain eyes, what those eyes know - from what they have seen.
And if those eyes are aching for a place called home.
I wonder about it, but honestly, I don't really want to fully know, because it can become for me, a weight far too heavy for my heart and frame to bear;
I know me well enough to be quite certain of that.

The past weekend, I repaired my friend's refrigerator water/ice dispenser on the frig door. I helped her find the paddle kit, gathered the tools I needed, and soon set out to work on a project I have never attempted before. After watching a number of videos online, a few days prior, I settled into a hopeful confidence that I had equipped myself well enough to begin.
Step by step I removed and replaced objects the eyes cannot see from the outside, unless you get on your knees and look up and into the dark hollow of the dispenser. Using both eyes and ears, I tackled a few tough installation spots, a few unsure steps due to the former breakage of important parts, until the sound of the last exterior frame snap, popped into place, and the drip tray was returned to its proper position. All that was left now, was trying it out, hoping all of the tedious and somewhat delicate work will have paid off with the sight and sound of ice cubes falling into the cup.
Voila!! It worked beautifully!
Now my widow friend could enjoy her frig ice dispenser, instead of peering at a dead space and missing ice paddle.
As for me, I felt like a little bit of heaven rained down upon us both.
It is good to feel needed and appreciated. It is good to be guided from heaven, in tasks that feel outside of our skills. It is good to know that He peers into the dark places of our hearts, much like that dark dispenser cavity, searching for the broken pieces, removing them and restoring them to workable condition. It is good to know that our Father tends to the simple things, as well as the complex.
It is so good to feel the touch of heaven on my cheeks, in the form of a grateful tear.
"Heaven knows"
as Kathy Troccoli sings.
It knows the hidden sorrows of loss. It knows the quiet whispers of
"I'm here"
and it knows just what to do to quiet a trembling and heavy heart.
Yes, I yearn for HOME.
The home where the King of LOVE,
who IS LOVE
abides forever.
For now, my home is wherever my Father guides me.
Wherever He is, is my home,
and it is here I find my Peace.

Isn't that just like our Father, to use a broken ice dispenser paddle, to teach us how to love?
And to always look up (sometimes from bruised, tear-stained knees) deep inside the cavity of His Holy Heart.
We will find no broken pieces there.
Heaven truly knows
