What is a miracle?
I have often thought on miracles, but honestly have never come to settle the matter within my soul.
Miracle (Mirari in Latin) - to wonder
Is a miracle a violation of the laws of nature? If so, then why did Jesus of Nazareth tell His chosen disciples that they could do the works that He did, and even greater works than He did, if they put their trust in Him?
“Amen, amen I tell you, he who puts his trust in Me, the works that I do he will do; and greater than these he will do, because I am going to the Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.”
Is putting their trust in Him a violation of nature?
So what were the "works" that Jesus of Nazareth did?
For starters, we read in the Scripture of many works that He performed:
Turning water into wine
Giving sight to a blind man
Raising a dead child, and His beloved dead friend
Casting demons from a man occupying "dead" space
and the mysterious works go on...
But were those "wonders"?
What is the possibility that instead of miracles, those acts are actually ligitament laws of nature themselves. What if there is no wonderment in those acts at all, and what some might see as outside the realm of reality as we know it, is actually reality, more-so than the state of existence that we have come to accept as natural and realistic.

"Get your head out of the clouds"
We hear that all the time, as if having our heads in the clouds is a foreign state of mind. But is it? What do people like myself gain from peering just below the cloud line, always wondering what exists above it?
When I was a tiny child, I read a story about another child who dug a hole so deep into the earth that finally the hole opened up to an entire new world; the upside-down person was she herself, while life continued, a breached hole away.
Needless to say, our backyard was suddenly filled with holes, and my dirty little fingers were numb from digging.
Meanwhile, back on the ranch...
We live in a spiritual world, according to the Bible, with powers and principalities of darkness all around us, battling for our souls.
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12 ESV
Ummm...I would say that verse alone, plus nothing, validates the factual statement that we live in a miracle, a cosmic wonder.
So what if we don't have to pray for a miracle at all. What if we just ask Jesus of Nazareth, in His Name, for what we desire?
But then we add "according to Your (Jesus) Will" and "Your (Jesus) Will be done"
He said "ask anything in My Name", didn't He?

Why are innocent children still lost in sex trafficking?
Why are unborn babies still being barbarically ripped from their Mommy's womb, or starved to death by way of the "abortion pill" (RU-486)" Mifepristone/Misoprostol?
Why are followers of Jesus of Nazareth still being murdered daily on this planet?
Why are there still souls broken, disfigured and suffering in disease, birth defects, and congenital abnormalities?
Do we not trust Jesus of Nazareth? Do we linger in unbelief? Are we partnered with the dark side of this spiritual realm?
Where is the Mirari - the wonder?
If only we knew how to break through that barrior.
Perhaps the next question is:
"What is belief?"
or
Unbelief
Perhaps it's time to stick my head in a hole once again. Perhaps the view from the other side holds more promise.
