LORD, I meet you in my dwelling place, here in the silence of my heart.
Torn away from this broken world's charade, I just desire to sit alone in the glorious light of Your great love, if but for a moment.
Is that ok?
Day folds into night, and night into day, yet nothing seems to change. A love starved world stares out into an empty space, crying out for help and hope, met only by eyes grown dark with hate and vengeance.
Oh, we need You so very desperately. LORD, we need You now. Hours and days spent on bruised knees, and yet the heart just cries out to see Your face. We need to see Your face.
If hope deferred makes the heart sick, the great physician is in dire need.
The world is too big, its weight too heavy to bear for small shoulders, and the responsibility of this difficult task is overwhelming to the soul.
How do we do this, Adonai? How do we carry each other's burden without slipping out from under its pressing load, stumbling and tumbling to our own demise? Is this what You intended?
Perhaps some can accomplish this holy burden of prayer much easier than others. Perhaps some can separate emotion from heart, and flesh from soul.
Perhaps some just need to sit at Your feet for awhile, and stare into Your beautiful eyes.
Would that be alright too?
Could we make this our prayer?
"LORD, show us Your face"
