The Battle

The Word of God tells us to put on the full armor of God so that we can stand up against [all] the strategies and the deceits of the devil.  When in a battle, what scripture do you turn to most?

    Psalms 34 and Psalms 23

There is little in life that compares with a shepherd and his sheep.  The beautiful relationship they grow together in, from birth to death, is awe inspiring. The shepherd in a field keeping watch over his flock is more than a simple pauper; he is  protector, teacher, guide, leader, watchman, healer and his own special lost and found agent of grace.  He is sling-shot accurate and wolf-proof mad.  He will leave his entire flock to search out one meandering sheep that somehow became hood-winked by its unsationable appetite for what appeared to be greener pastures.  His sheep have been given names, and they know their shepherd's voice when he calls them.  Even a girl and her cat or a boy and his dog  are no match to the shepherd and his sbeep.  The shepherd is always scanning his flock and counting them. His eyes and ears may appear closed on a quiet star-filled night sky eve, but a bleat or sound of rustling in the thistled field sets him on his feet in defense mode, ready to battle an enemy of deception. What trust, what comfort, what devotion can compare?  The weak are made strong.  The hungry are fed from his own hands, The lost are found.  The shepherd .. the hope of his sheep.

I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. Psalm 34:4

The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and His ears are open unto their cry. Psalm 34:15

The Lord is my Shepherd.  I shall not want [for anything].  Psalm 23:1

  • When battles arise in my life I read Psalm 91 because it is His promise of protection.  I also love the verse that says I will see Yahweh's goodness while in the land of the living.  There are so many more promises that edify and comfort me.  When trouble comes my way, I run to Yahweh and not away from Him.  He is the Great I Am, my Rock and my Redeemer. Our God is a strong tower, the righteous run in to Him and they are safe.  His Word sustains me in all I do.  There is nothing too great that He cannot handle for me and it brings me great assurance and hope just knowing everything will be alright.  It may take time in certain situations but the battle is not mine....it belongs to the Lord.  I cast all my care upon Him because He cares for me and my family.  Because I am saved, my household is saved.  Jesus has already won the victory over every battle the devil uses to attack me.  Nothing takes Jesus by surprise!....He sees it all and knows it all!  I trust Yahweh completely!  I am His and He is mine!

Psalm 18:1-3 "I love You Oh Lord, my strength."  2/ The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.  3/ I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies.
